About
“My love of art initially started many years ago with drawing wildlife. With this passion came an attention to detail with graphite pencil, completely self-taught. A career change due to injury and illness forced me to step out of my comfort zone and start painting full-time from my studio in the market town of Retford. This is where my love of landscape painting flourished and continues to progress, as I develop new techniques with oil and acrylic. The highlight of my artistic career so far was being involved with Sky Arts Landscape of the Year 2026 at Keswick as a wildcard.”
Mark Bloomer is a contemporary fine artist known for his expressive yet grounded approach to landscape painting. Drawing from years of observation in nature, Mark’s work blends realism with a soft, atmospheric glow, creating pieces that feel both familiar and quietly transcendent.
Working primarily in oil, his paintings explore the balance between detail and suggestion; the shimmer of late daylight, the hush of morning mist, the subtle movement of distant horizons.
Mark’s work has been collected internationally and exhibited in galleries, private collections and curated online exhibitions. Each piece is created with the intention of bringing serenity and emotional depth into the viewer’s space.
“Painting is my way of listening. Every horizon, every shadow, every shift of light carries a story. My work is an attempt to capture those quiet conversations between nature and the creative spirit.”
